International Film Festival
Anya Taylor-Joy delivered a standout fashion moment as she arrived on the red carpet for the 22nd Marrakech International Film Festival, choosing a striking strapless gold gown for the occasion. The Queen’s Gambit actress, 29, attended the second evening of the festival looking polished and radiant.
Her pleated gown hugged her silhouette closely, decorated with delicate floral detailing across the bodice. Anya completed the look with a sleek platinum updo and diamond-wing earrings, opting for bold glam makeup that matched the elegance of the night.
Also making an appearance was Wednesday actress Jenna Ortega, who offered a softer contrast in a champagne satin dress with a one-shoulder cut. The 23-year-old showcased a more ethereal style, while still keeping her signature cool expression — paired with dark, gothic makeup that fans know her for.
Both actresses are part of the official jury this year, joining filmmakers Celine Song, Julia Ducournau, Karim Aïnouz, Hakim Belabbes, and actor-director Payman Maadi. The panel is responsible for judging 14 debut and second-feature films, spotlighting emerging talent from around the world. Festival winners will be revealed at the closing ceremony on December 6.
Ortega’s recent viral moment
Jenna’s festival appearance follows online buzz surrounding her demeanor during a recent Wednesday press gathering. At a Netflix FYC event earlier in November — attended by cast members including Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzmán — fans noticed the actress appeared withdrawn or fatigued at one point during the presentation.
When series co-creator Alfred Gough publicly praised her performance in season two, Jenna seemed to turn slightly away from the stage lights and rested her chin on her hand. Gough said during the event:
“She and Emma really took care of each other on that body swap episode… It’s an extraordinary episode. But Jenna is extraordinary through the entire season and so I will give her the props that she won’t give herself.”
Afterward, Jenna redirected attention to the production crew instead, saying:
“Actually, I’m very proud of the Irish crew stepping in… I’m not the one lugging around equipment and loading trucks every day… it’s not easy.”
A clip of the moment spread online and sparked speculation among fans about tension between Ortega and Gough, though neither party has publicly addressed the rumors further.
